Why investing in Kyrgyzstan?!

Once time investor Sheldon Gary Adelson (capital - $68 billion) answered to russian “Vedomosti” reporter's Ivan Filippov question - “why he does not invest in Russia” in that case: "For our investment requires we need certain conditions. And the world has enough countries willing to lend us every assistance. They are willing to return us money, even more than 50% of our investments, we can recover them with variety of ways. If I put $ 12 billion, and I return the $ 6 billion, just so I invested in their country! Yes, and they allocate land close to the largest city with a population of 10 or 8 million, provides access to the international airport, labor and capacity building, and so on. Now think, why am I in this situation must to go to country, where I can`t take anything? "...

Such kind of investors are accustomed to respectful and exclusive relationship. I think anyone would have liked that. For them the most important thing - the presence in the country of interest in resources, proximity to major markets, the amount of which shall be not less than 6 million people on a small piece of land. In these circumstances, it is fair to question - why big investors would invest in Kyrgyzstan?

The answer to this question is difficult. Yes, indeed, we have only one city with population around one million. There are no free ports, access to the sea. We are located in the heart of the continent of Eurasia. This creates difficulties in logistics. There are no highly liquid resources, whether oil or gas. And there are many other reasons why we can not be of interest to major investors. However, if we are not of interest to billions of dollars of investment, no one can say that we are not interesting for small and medium businesses with foreign capital.

Our country has a small market. But it is the country that is adjacent to China. We located In the not too far from our neighbors India. Our country is near such point the future development such as Iran and Afghanistan. This market may be very interesting for the investor with little capital.

Any investor with a small capital will have a competitive advantage compared with our local banks, which take an average of 25% per annum for loans to businesses. In the sector of micro-credit annual interest rate and can grow up to 36%. That is, an investor with little capital can readily open a business, than locals.

We have a visa-free regime, which allows citizens of 45 countries remain on our territory up to 60 days. For citizens of more than 70 countries are allowed a visa in the simplified order. To conduct transnational business these conditions are ideal.

Our country is very easy to get accustomed innovation. The entering to our market for new original products, while maintaining a high service, it is very easy to open for small and medium investors the good gap in the market and a save for long time the sustainable competitive advantage.

Of course it is fact that each market has its own peculiarities, nuances collision. If earlier investors remained alone with the peculiarities of doing business in the Kyrgyz Republic today there are such institutions as - Foreign Investors Association, which could have a significant advisory, administrative, legal and marketing assistance to the investor. It's time to invest in the Kyrgyz Republic. Because the opportunities are everywhere, including here.

Falls and Rises: How Gold Prices Changed in Kyrgyzstan in June and Since the Beginning of 2025

14:00, July 10, 2025, Bishkek – 24.kg, Nargiza TOKOEVA Recently, global gold prices have been rising at an unusually rapid pace, repeatedly hitting record highs. The market has now somewhat stabilized. The surge in demand for the precious metal has been driven by several powerful factors: Aggressive purchases by central banks (especially BRICS countries) aiming to reduce dependence on the US dollar; Global geopolitical and trade tensions (tariff wars, sanctions, and regional conflicts); Weakening of the US dollar. All of these factors have made gold more attractive as a safe-haven asset. According to the London market, the most recent record was set on April 22, 2025, when the price of one troy ounce reached $3,434 on the London exchange. However, Kyrgyzstan recorded its highest local gold price on June 16, 2025. On April 23 — the day global gold prices hit a historical high — the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan set the price at 305,507.5 soms per ounce. But on June 16, the ...

Tuesday, December 31, 2024, 14:31 What was 2024 like for the republic’s economy? Economist Iskender Sharsheev, speaking with Vesti.kg , believes Kyrgyzstan’s GDP ought to be around $50 billion. Reviewing the past year’s performance, he noted: “The current year, 2024, has been an upswing for Kyrgyzstan’s economy. The government’s announced achievements have been justified: our state budget is now one trillion soms, and our GDP, for the first time in history, has reached $14 billion. I hope this upward trend continues every year. For a country like ours, a more appropriate level of GDP would be around $50 billion, with a per capita GDP of $5,000–$7,000. Currently, it stands at about $2,000—up from $1,260–$1,300 previously.” Sharsheev added that the Cabinet of Ministers has continued indexing salaries and social benefits: “Military salaries have gone up, with some officers now earning around $1,000, which is significant. Pensions have increased as well, and there are new benefits ...
